Prep rules & exceptions
Do this before it goes to the curb, or it stays there.
- Cart-only service — WM collects only WM carts; extra bags beside the cart are left. Missed carts wait until the next scheduled day.
- No-bag recycling — Never bag recyclables - bags jam the sorting equipment; rinse and drop items directly into the cart.
- Manual-collection pockets — Some areas still receive manual collection limited to two resident-provided 30-gallon cans/bags at no extra charge.
